Located in the scrotum, one testis in each compartment
Functions
Seminiferous tubules form spermatozoa
Interstitial cells secrete testosterone main androgen; increase protein synthesis, induce growth of secondary sex characteristics
Epididymis
It conducts semen from testes to vas deferens; matures while semen is stored before ejaculation.
Vas deferens
Conducts sperm and fluid from each epididymis to an ejaculatory duct.
Spermatic cords
The spermatic cord passes through the inguinal canal. At the deep inguinal ring the structures within the cord divergent. It suspends the testes in the scrotum.
Seminal vesicles
It secretes fluid that constitutes about 30% of semen.
Ejaculatory duct
Ejaculate semen into the urethra.
Prostate gland
Secrets about 60% of semen; secretion is alkaline, which increases sperm mortality; contains the enzymes acid phosphatase.
External
Scrotum
It contains the testes, epididymis, and the first part of seminal ducts; sperm develops at 2 to 3 degrees below body temperature.
Penis
Contains urethra; contain vascular spaces that when filled with blood cause erection.
