A cataract is a clouding of the eye's lens that impairs vision and is typically brought on by aging. One or both eyes may develop a cataract, and it cannot move from one eye to the other.
The protein in the lens may change as a result of the wear and tear it endures over time, or there may be other causes of cataract, such as smoking and diabetes.
Cataracts are marked by painless eyesight blur. Reduced visual acuity and sensitivity to glare are some typical symptoms, in addition to light dispersion.
Early cataracts may be treated with corrective lenses, magnifying glasses, or other vision aids. Extracapsular and phacoemulsification surgeries can also be performed.
When exposed to sunlight, patients should wear UV protective lenses for both prevention and treatment.
