There haven't been many studies that have looked at whether healthy aging adults experience a typical decline in orientation. A slight shift in orientation could be a result of aging.
Many senior citizens observe a deterioration in their capacity for attention. While some studies have discovered that older adults find it more challenging to store and retrieve information when their attention is diverted, other studies have not discovered any appreciable differences from younger adults. According to studies, sustained attention does not decline with age, but impaired hearing or vision may make it harder for older adults to perform well on verbal and visual attention tasks.
Numerous studies using a range of techniques, including histology, structural imaging, functional imaging, and receptor binding, have provided evidence that aging-related processes that lead to memory changes are particularly harmful to the frontal lobes and frontal-striatal dopaminergic pathways.
