Difference between Sensation and Perception

Subject: Behavioral Science

Overview

The major difference between sensation and perception is that sensation is a simple process which provides raw data for perception whereas perception is a complex process which filters change and modifies the raw data from the sensation. Detecting physical energy from the environment and encode it as neural single with the help of receptor is a sensation. The process in which we select organized and interpreted our sensation in a meaningful way is perception. Sensations are a comparatively passive stage.Perceptions are an active process.
