  • Use techniques that are appropriate for the students you are teaching and learning with.
  • Observe the standards for evaluating the techniques used.

Criteria for Selecting Methods

The selection of the ideal mix of teaching resources and approaches is one of the teacher's most important jobs. Application of these materials properly can improve teaching effectiveness and efficiency while giving teachers more satisfying experiences. Because it is inappropriate or impractical in a certain setting, a specific method or media may fail to meet its teaching goal. It is important to consider a number of factors when determining if a given approach or media is appropriate. the following

  • Feasibility or Practicability
    • From the perspectives of transportation, economics, the availability of necessary equipment, and other facilities, a method or media should be practical to implement.
  • Possibility
    • Where we are providing health education, there should be a chance to use the necessary techniques. Where there is no electricity, we cannot use electrical appliances. It is impossible to use an overhead projector to show a movie in such locations.
  • Nature of Audience
    • The audience's nature should be taken into account when choosing appropriate tactics. The target group's educational level, culture, and other factors should be considered while selecting this approach or media. For instance, we cannot employ symposiums and panel discussions for young people and newspapers, pamphlets, and other written materials for illiterate people.
  • Peoples Attitude and Belief
    • People have varying levels of interest in various media or tactics. The methods or medium should be chosen based on the public's interest in and commitment to them. People consider government-published pamphlets, radio broadcasts, and television transmissions to be legitimate messages from the community's target group.
  • Reliability of Public on Channel
    • People typically place more faith in national periodicals, radio, and television while placing less faith in lectures, microphones, and pamphlets. The health education program adopted must be able to reach the target group.
  • Accessibility
    • Every member of the target group in the community should be able to access the method or media used to deliver the health education program or message.
  • Approach
    • The approach must be powerful enough to persuade every person in the target population and spread the message.
  • Subject or Purpose of Teaching
    • The choice of a particular method or media is influenced by the purpose of the lesson as well. The audience's needs will determine the topic and goal of the lesson. A lecture can be helpful if it is to spread a health message or knowledge. Demonstration methods must be used in order to meet the need for skill and attitude development.
  • Objective and Interest of The People
    • We must choose approaches that will support achieving the goal and meeting the needs of the populace. It should be chosen in accordance with public interest to encourage active participation from the audience.
