Different Housing Needs

Numerous variables, including climate, race, community, socio-cultural norms, economic standards, etc., affect the types of dwellings. Whatever the variations in housing there may be, adequate housing must satisfy the following demands of a man. (Related to the Maslow Hierarchy)

Physiological Needs:

A house should be well constructed and well ventilated to provide comfort by fresh air, adequate light, and facilities to rest, play, security & other recreational activities which helps a man to provide satisfaction by promoting efficiency in day to day activities.

Psychological Needs:

Good housing will provide a feeling of having privacy, his dignity being maintained by having status in the community life, respect of family & satisfaction of owning and keeping a house clean & comfortable.

Health Needs:

It includes the bare necessities that promote health and keep the poor from being ill by providing them with decent shelter and enough water. One may preserve their health & avoid becoming sick with efficient sewage disposal and waste disposal services. Similar facilities for cooking, washing, and storing will be built, allowing for the control of hazards brought on by rodents, insects, and other creatures.

Protective Needs:

A good place to live means being safe from potential hazards, such as poor flooring or electrical fixture malfunctions, which can be avoided with reliable and secure maintenance. Included in this list are requirements for safeguarding people against accidents, wild animals like elephants and tigers, and faulty electrical equipment. Additionally, it shields them from social, mental, and physical issues.
