Definition

School Health:

School health refers to a state of complete physical, mental, social and spiritu well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity among pupils, teachers and either school personnel.

School Health Nurse:

A school health nurse is a qualified, experienced professional and the only trained nurse working across health and education boundaries. They also provides link betwee school, home and community.

School Nurse:

The head of the school community responsible for directing school health policies and initiatives is the qualified professional school nurse. (American Nurses Association/National Association of School Nurses [NASN/ANA], 2005)

The job of school nurses is to protect and look after the whole school community while also providing children and adolescents with health promotion education.

In 2016, the Catalan Association of Nursing and School Health

School Health Program is a detail program conducted through different activities based on school curriculum including improving and protecting the health of a child". Charles, Turner, Rented and Smith

Objectives of School health Program

• To encourage family health through children, such as through a child-to-child program.
• Children's health is being promoted for good citizenship.
• Early fault discovery, care, and monitoring.
• Promoting children's awareness of their health.
• Environment improvement Health promotion Disease prevention.

Principles of School Health Services 

School health services should:

• Be based on the health requirements of students.
• Putting a focus on health education helps to preserve, enhance, and maintain the staff's and students' health. Instead, it should be incorporated into the normal school curriculum.
• Have a reliable reporting and record-keeping system.
• A focus on education via desirable and active involvement.
• Be a continual, continuing program.
• Be developed in conjunction with the school, the medical staff, the parents, and the community. To enhance collaboration among them while planning and implementing school health services, a school health council must be established.
• Promotive and preventative features are highlighted.
• Participate in community health programs.

Purpose of School Nursing

• Deal with current and upcoming health issues.
• Offer case management assistance.
• Work together to help students and families develop their capacity for self-management, self-advocacy, and learning.
• Deal with current and upcoming health issues.
• Encourage your students to react positively to regular growth.
• Encourage safety and health.
