Sexual Rights of Men and Women

Sexual rights include the right of all Persons, free of coercion, discrimination and violence to:

• The highest attainable standard of sexual health, including access to sexual and reproductive health care services;
• Seek, receive and impart information related to sexuality and sexuality education;
• Respect for bodily integrity and choose their partner,
• Decide to be sexually active or not,
• Consensual sexual relations; and consensual marriage,
• Decide whether or not, and when, to have children; and,
• Pursue a satisfying, safe and pleasurable sexual life.

The responsible exercise of human rights requires that all Persons respect the rights of others. Sexual rights are universal human rights based on the inherent freedom, dignity and equality of all human beings. Sexual rights include the right to choose one's sexual partner, live out their sexual orientation, to control one's own body, only have sex when with whom and how they want to,have the experience of sexual pleasure, not to be forced to have sex through the use of violence or coercion, not to be abused or violated, be protected from diseases such as HIV and STI, exercise the responsibilities that go with sexual rights, to freely choose contraceptive methods, have a safe and legal abortion, have access to information about prevention of sexually tram infections (STIs) and comprehensive sexuality education.

Therefore, via education and activism, it is crucial to demystify the nature and consequences of satisfying sexual rig. For women and men, girls and boys, people with disabilities, homosexuals, transgender people, people living with HIV, and other groups that frequently face discrimination, the possibility of having pleasurable and safe experiences, free from coercion, discrimination, and violence, is a goal in and of itself.

Regardless of gender, age, nationality, or sexual orientation, everyone should have access to sexual rights. They consist of the positive facets of enjoyment, love, autonomy, bodily integrity, and sexual identity. However, these characteristics of sexual rights may pose a challenge to established organizations, religious institutions, political power centers, and even certain individuals.
