Overview

Meningitis is also known as viral meningitis because the culture for bacteria is sterile, and it can cause fever, headaches, vomiting, and convulsions.

Clinical manifestation

  • Drowsiness\sWeakness

  • Headache
  • Coughing up blood
  • Blindness

Analyses for Diagnosis

  • WBC Analysis
  • Test for CSF
  • Biopsy
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Medical management

Treatment of the symptoms:

  • If there is a fever, a headache, or just general discomfort, antipyretics can help.
  • You should give the anticonvulsants so that the seizures can be contained.
  • Give anti-viral medication; phynitone is used to manage seizures.
  • Encouragement on a mental level


Nursing management

  • Keep a close eye on the patient's vitals, breathing, and airway.
  • The body needs to keep a healthy fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Administer an antipyretic in order to alleviate discomfort and lower fever.
  • Constantly checking vitals like blood pressure, heart rate, and blood sugar.
  • Dole out antiviral drugs
  • In the case of bacterial meningitis, antibiotic treatment is required.
  • Nasal and oral secretions are taken into account and recorded.
  • Maintain a low volume and low lighting level.
  • Put them to sleep by giving them medicine.
  • Keep an eye on the neurological status using the Glasgow coma scale.
